- Associations
Other great resources for your alpaca education and business are
AOBA, the
national alpaca association, and your local and regional affiliates. These
associations allow alpaca breeders to combine resources and gather together to
promote the alpaca industry.
By
joining
AOBA you are
eligible to take advantage of a wealth of information including the
history and care of alpacas, the financial and investment opportunities of
alpacas, a variety of professionally designed sales and marketing tools to
get your business off the ground.
Living in Upstate New York, my local affiliate is
The Empire
Alpaca Association.
The EAA
hosts
The Empire Extravaganza alpaca show every October. It also
promotes alpaca education
through its
Empire Alpaca Symposium.
We
are also members of
MAPACA,
the Mid-Atlantic Alpaca Association, our re gional
affiliate. MAPACA hosts the
Eastern Alpaca
Jubilee alpaca show each spring. This year the Jubilee has the
distinction of being the largest alpaca show in the world.
 Although it
is not an alpaca affiliate, we participate in the Pride of New York program.
Primarily a program which supports food producers and retailers in NY, the
Empire Alpaca Association has asked its members to join in order to establish
the alpaca industry as a growing presence in our state.
